The Tampa Bay Lightning have traded defenseman Eric Brewer to the Anaheim Ducks for a third-round pick in 2015.
Brewer, 35, has appeared in 17 games this season and earned four assists. He was a healthy scratch in four of Tampa Bay's past five games. He had spent parts of the past five seasons with the Lightning.
The move is likely due to Tampa Bay's ample depth. Defenseman Victor Hedman, who has been out since fracturing a right finger Oct. 18, has been upgraded to day-to-day.
