Lightning re-sign G Cedrick Desjardins, D Matt Taormina

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Cedrick Desjardins and defenseman Matt Taormina were re-signed to one-year, two-way contracts, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced Wednesday. Desjardins, 27, played three games with the Lightning last season, earning a 0-3-0 record with a 3.00 goals-against average and a .890 save percentage. He has appeared in five career NHL games, all with the Lightning, during the 2010-11 and 2012-13 seasons, and he has earned a 2-3-0 record with a 2.14 goals-against average and .926 save percentage. He was acquired Feb. 14, 2013, from the Montreal Canadiens. Meanwhile, Taormina, 26, played two games with Tampa Bay last season and went scoreless. He played a combined 47 games for the New Jersey Devils during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. The Lightning signed him as a free agent July 6, 2012.
