Lightning re-sign Cody Kunyk, sign Matt Corrente
TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Lightning signed two players to one-year, two-way contracts Tuesday.
Defenseman Matt Corrente skated in 72 games with the American Hockey League's Charlotte Checkers last season, and he earned two goals with 11 points. He has played in 235 career AHL games, earning 15 goals and 62 points.
A native of Mississauga, Ontario, he has played in 34 career NHL games, all with the New Jersey Devils over parts of the past two seasons. He has earned six assists in NHL play.
Tampa Bay also re-signed forward Cody Kunyk. Signed by the Lightning as an undrafted free agent on March 20, he debuted in the NHL by logging 10:12 of ice time on April 13 against the Washington Capitals. A native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, he skated in 148 games over four seasons for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, where he earned 60 goals and 133 points.
