Lesnar manhandles Cena for WWE title at SummerSlam

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 3:33 p.m. ET

Brock Lesnar took the WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt away from fan favorite John Cena at SummerSlam on Sunday night.

If it was action the fans were seeking from the headline match, the WWE delivered.

Lesnar hit Cena with his signature F5 finishing move just seconds into the match. Naturally, it didn't finish Cena. The match continued after Cena kicked out at two, but Lesnar eventually followed with a flurry of German suplexes.

The new champ hit the old champ with 16 suplexes in total throughout the course of the match.

Lesnar finally pulled off another F5 that ended the match.

The crowd at Staples Center looked stunned, but not quite as stunned as they did when Lesnar ended The Undertaker's undefeated Wrestlemania streak.

It is clear that the WWE wants Lesnar to be an unstoppable superstar. Brock's agent recently admitted that Lesnar only fights once in a while so that all of his matches are must-see TV. Between ending The Undertaker's streak and taking the belt away from Cena, script writers have set Lesnar up for one hell of a year.
