Legwand fined for butt-ending Malkin

DETROIT -- The NHL levied some additional punishments after Thursday night's Red Wings-Penguins game.

Wings center David Legwand was given a five-minute major and game misconduct for butt-ending Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin at 16:14 of the third period.

On Friday, the NHL's Department of Player Safety fined Legwand $5,000 for his actions.

Penguins forward James Neal received a two-minute minor for cross-checking Wings center Luke Glendening at 5:19 of the second period.
