Left wing Matt Beleskey re-signs with Ducks
The Ducks on Sunday re-signed left wing Matt Beleskey to a two-year contract extension worth $2.7 million, a hockey official familiar with the deal reported.
Beleskey, 25, scored 13 points (eight goals) last season, spending minimal time on the first line with stars Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry while also participating as a physical presence willing to scrap with opponents.
Beleskey led the club with 103 hits and was second in penalty minutes, and on the heels of a disappointing first-round exit against Detroit in the Stanley Cup playoffs, Ducks’ General Manager Bob Murray said physical play was part of the solution to improvement.
A fourth-round pick in 2006, Beleskey has 56 points in 209 career games with the Ducks after scoring 18 as a rookie in 2009-10.
He'll earn $1.3 million this coming season and $1.4 million in 2014-15, the hockey official said.
