It will be not just one surgery but two next week for Timberwolves guard Malcolm Lee. Lee hasn't played since Dec. 12, when he hurt his right knee, and next week he'll have surgery to repair cartilage in that knee as well as another surgery on his right hip.
Lee's knee surgery will take place Monday, his hip surgery Wednesday. Dr. Jonathan Glashow at Midtown Surgical Center in New York will perform the knee surgery, and Dr. Bryan Kelly at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York will perform the hip surgery. He will be out for the rest of the season.
Lee hurt his right knee against Denver on Dec. 12. The team initially believed it was hyperextended before discovering the cartilage damage later in the month. Lee also had surgery on the torn meniscus a year ago in his left knee, which he injured during training camp last season.
In 16 games this season, Lee started 12 after Brandon Roy's injury sidelined him. He averaged 4.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game, and he was much more of a presence at the defensive end of the court than on offense.
