It was a see-saw battle on a slushy rink but in the end, No. 1 Hill-Murray pulled out a 3-2 win over host Moorhead Saturday in the second of two outdoor high school games on Hockey Day Minnesota.

Ben Bahe scored the game-winner on a breakaway late in the third period for the Pioneers, who also got goals from J.D. Contrero and Bob Bruski.

Moorhead responded after each of Hill-Murray's first two goals, getting equalizers from Eric Brenk in the second period and Bryant Christian early in the third.

With a high sun and temperatures reaching above freezing in Moorhead, the ice was especially sloppy near the boards and in the crease, but the teams played through the less-than-ideal conditions to put on a good show for the home crowd.
