Last-second free throw gives UH win over Tulsa

HOUSTON (AP)
-- Jonathon Simmons scored 19 points, including the winning free throw in the final second of overtime, and Houston held off Tulsa 70-69 Wednesday night in the Conference USA opener for both schools.

J.J. Thompson had 15 points for the Cougars (9-5) while TaShawn Thomas had 12 points and Alandise Harris added 10 for Houston.

Steven Idlet led the Golden Hurricane (7-8) with 22 points. Eric McClellan had 14 points and Jordan Clarkson and D.J. Magley each scored 12. McClellan's basket with 12 seconds left in overtime tied the game for the 13th and final time,

Simmons could have won the game in regulation, but missed the second of two free throws with a second to play, leaving the game tied at 65.
