Lakers to wear sleeved jerseys during 2013-14
After debuting sleeved uniforms in July at summer league in Las Vegas, the Lakers will be taking that style into the regular season, according to a team spokesman.
The Lakers will wear the uniforms, which ESPNLosAngeles.com reported will be white, in "a few selected games," per the spokesman.
On Thursday, the Lakers announced they would wear black alternate jerseys this season as well.
Sleeved uniforms debuted to mixed reviews last season in Golden State when the Warriors sported them for three games, and buzz about them expanding to other teams has spread throughout the summer. According to an ESPN.com report in June, as many as five teams were planning to wear sleeved jerseys as official alternates in up to 12 games each during the 2013-14 season.
According to that ESPN.com report, the adidas short-sleeved jerseys will be 26 percent lighter than traditional jerseys, and though they might appear to be tighter, the company promises that they won’t compromise players’ shots or constrict their range of motion.
