Lakers fans chant for Phil Jackson during loss
At the point, Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni should be used to it. It wasn’t the first time and it may not be the last.
Lakers fans showed their displeasure of D’Antoni during the
Lakers’ 120-89 blowout loss on Friday.
During the fourth quarter with the Lakers on their way to their
worst home playoff loss in franchise history, the chants for former Lakers coach
Phil Jackson came raining down.
“We want Phil” were heard throughout the Staples Center.
The same chants were heard earlier in the season when
Jackson attended Shaquille O’Neal’s jersey ceremony.
Jackson was said to be the leading candidate to return as
head coach this season after the Lakers fired Mike Brown five games into the
season. Instead, they went with Mike D’Antoni, a choice that hasn’t set well
with the Lakers faithful.
Jackson coached the Lakers from 1999–2004 and returned in '05–11, winning five NBA championships in Los Angeles.
