Lacy, Packers reach deal on rookie contract
Eddie Lacy, expected to help transform Green Bay's backfield next season, has reached a deal on a rookie contract. The deal was officially announced by Packers general manager Ted Thompson. Terms of the pact were not disclosed.
Lacy, a 5-foot-11, 230-pound running back out of Alabama, was drafted by the Packers in the second round (No. 61 overall) in April's NFL draft. He earned first-team All-Southeastern Conference accolades as a junior in 2012 after rushing for 1,322 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Crimson Tide.
Lacy is viewed as a physical, three-down running back who gives Green Bay's ground game options in 2013 along with fourth-round draftee Johnathan Franklin, a speedy back out of UCLA.
With Lacy's signing, defensive end Datone Jones is the only Packers rookie still unsigned.
