NEW YORK (AP) La Verdad was the easy winner of the $100,000 Broadway Stakes for New York-bred fillies and mares Saturday at rainy Aqueduct.

The consistent 4-year-old trained by Linda Rice won for the sixth time in eight races. The 4-5 favorite, La Verdad grabbed the early lead and was never menaced to earn her first stakes victory.

Jose Ortiz, the rider in every start, guided her to a 3 1/4-length victory over Hot Rendezvous.

The time was 1:11.55 for the six furlongs in the slop.
