Andrei Kirilenko left the Minnesota Timberwolves' game against the Suns with 1:54 remaining in the first quarter on Tuesday with a left calf strain. The team announced in the second quarter that he would not return.
Before exiting the game, the forward had played 10 minutes, racking up a steal, an assist and two rebounds. He had not attempted a shot.
This will be Kirilenko's third minor injury this season. He missed four games in late November and early December with back spasms, and he sat for the five games preceding the All-Star break with a left quad strain. Without Kirilenko and in games he's left due to injury (before Tuesday, that is), Minnesota is 3-7.
By late in the second quarter, the team had not yet offered a prognosis on his injury, and one is unlikely to come until after the game. The Timberwolves play Thursday in Los Angeles against the Lakers and Saturday in Portland before returning home to face Miami on Monday.
