MINNEAPOLIS — University of Minnesota football coach Jerry Kill has been released from the hospital Sunday, one day after suffering a seizure following the Gophers' game against Northwestern.

Kill, who has a history of seizures, was hospitalized Saturday night after having a seizure in the coaches locker room at TCF Bank Stadium. After the incident, the school announced that the 51-year-old Kill was alert and resting comfortably.

"He was evaluated (Saturday) and this morning and all tests confirm that he remains in excellent health," team physician Dr. Pat Smith said in a statement Sunday. "His only concern is his team and staff, and he is excited to resume his normal coaching duties as Minnesota prepares for Wisconsin this week. He plans to be back in the office tomorrow."

Kill suffered a seizure on the sideline during the Gophers' home game last year against New Mexico State in the second week of the season, but he returned before Minnesota's next game. He also suffered additional seizures throughout the year, but it never interfered with his ability to coach the team.

The 4-2 Gophers prepare to play rival Wisconsin on the road this Saturday. Kill's status remains uncertain for that game, but he never has missed a game because of his seizure disorder during his coaching career.
