Kidd over Carlisle as Mavs' coach? Cuban: 'Oh, hell no'
FRISCO, Texas – Mark Cuban had a good laugh Friday after he was asked about former Dallas Maverick Jason Terry playing for former Maverick Jason Kidd now that it appears both will be in Brooklyn next season.
Terry was part of a blockbuster deal on Thursday that will also send Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Brooklyn Nets, the team that hired a recently retired Kidd to be their head coach.
Cuban spoke highly of Kidd's future as a head coach, but he clearly wouldn't prefer one of the game's greatest point guards coaching the Mavericks over Rick Carlisle.
"Oh, hell no," Cuban said. "Nothing against J-Kidd, he'll be a great coach but we've got one of the three-best coaches in the NBA and he's not going anywhere. No second-guesses at all. J-Kidd's still going to go through that whole learning curve. He's a basketball genius and he'll do it, but he's still got to do it. We've been through those seasons and Coach Carlisle has been through those wars. And obviously he's proven championship-worthy, so we think we have one of the best in the business."
