Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the Detroit Pistons' 2013 first-round draft pick, suffered an injury to his left knee during Sunday's preseason loss to the Washington Wizards, the team announced on Monday.

The injury, which is being classified as a left knee strain, will keep Caldwell-Pope out for this week's preseason games at Charlotte, Orlando and Atlanta.

The injury will be re-evaluated upon the team's return to Detroit next week.

The second-year shooting guard is expected to garner a larger role in new head coach Stan Van Gundy's system during the 2014-15 regular season.

Caldwell-Pope played in 80 games and averaged 5.9 points in a little under 20 minutes a game during his rookie season.
