Kenley Jansen talks health scare
Phoenix — Walking back to the Dodgers' clubhouse from the practice field where he played catch, Kenley Jansen talked about his health scare early Friday morning.
Jansen said he was awakened at about 2:30 a.m. by the rapid beating of his heart. The hard-throwing setup man said he was also short of breath.
"It was going pretty fast for like half an hour," Jansen said of his heartbeat.
He said his heart wasn't out of rhythm, the way it was last year when he had to spend a month on the disabled list.
During his episode last year, Jansen said he experienced dizziness, a symptom he didn't have Friday morning.
Jansen said he called one of the team trainers at 3 a.m., and later visited internist Dr. John Monroe in Phoenix as a precaution. He was cleared for all baseball activities.
Jansen intends to pitch on Saturday night, as was previously scheduled.
"I'm definitely pitching tomorrow," he said.
