Kansas coach Charlie Weis knows who will begin 2014 as his starting quarterback.

Sophomore Montell Cozart won the job after ending 2013 as the Jayhawks' starter and reclaimed the job ahead of Jake Heaps this spring.

Last season, Cozart ran for 214 yards and a touchdown on 66 carries and completed 23 of 63 (36.5 percent) passes for 227 yards and two interceptions.

Cozart emerged as a standout this spring and completed 6 of 10 passes for 58 yards in the spring game. He also ran for two touchdowns and 70 yards on just seven carries.

Kansas opens its season Sept. 6 against Southeast Missouri State.

The Jayhawks went 3-9 last season, but ended a 27-game losing streak in Big 12 play by beating West Virginia 31-19 in a game Cozart started.
