Juan Rivera thinks he'll avoid disabled list
Juan Rivera doesn’t think he’ll have to be placed on the disabled list because of the strained left hamstring he suffered on Tuesday night.
“They’ll give me like two, three days,” Rivera said.
Rivera was hurt running down the first base line on an infield single.
Rivera said he felt something grab behind his left knee. The area was still “a little sore” on Wednesday, he said.
Rivera took the field early in the afternoon and performed a series of stretches under the watch of trainer Sue Falsone.
“We’re willing to wait,” Manager Don Mattingly said. “At this point, we’re going to go day-to-day.”
Pitcher Aaron Harang, who hit a foul ball off his foot on Tuesday night, also reported improvement in his condition. X-rays were negative.
“It’s still sore,” he said. “But it’s definitely not as swollen as yesterday.”
The top of Harang’s foot near the toes was purple, but he said he expected to throw his scheduled bullpen session on Friday.
“The hitters are joking, saying, ‘Welcome to our world,’” Harang said.
