Marquette junior forward Juan Anderson and senior guard Jake Thomas have been selected to the roster for the Global Sports Academy European Summer Tour that takes place later in August.
The duo will leave for Brussels, Belgium on Thursday and will play in five games throughout Belgium, the Netherlands and England. The trip is more involved than just playing basketball, as the team will go sight-seeing and perform community service.
"Being able to play actual games is just a bonus," Thomas said. "The entire experience is going to be beneficial, from the actual travel with the other players to the community service opportunities.  I am extremely thankful to be included."
West Chester University assistant coach Roy Blumenthal will coach the team comprised of Anderson, Thomas, Patrick Moore (Colgate), Darrun Hilliard (Villanova), Tony Chennault (Villanova), Troy Hockaday (West Chester), Michael Kromka (Clarion University), Tyler Harris (Providence), Jabulani Newby (Gannon) and Eric Laster (Loyola Maryland).  "I am really looking forward to the opportunity and it will be my first trip to Europe," Anderson said in a statement. "It's a chance to gain a new perspective on other cultures and experience things I wouldn't ever have the chance to if it weren't for basketball." Anderson and Thomas announced intentions to transfer from Marquette following last season, but both eventually decided to return to the Golden Eagles.
Starting 31 of Marquette's 35 games last season, the 6-foot-6 Anderson averaged 2.7 points and 2.9 rebounds in 13.0 minutes per game as a sophomore.
After sitting out the 2011-12 season after transferring from South Dakota, Thomas averaged 1.8 points in 9.0 minutes per game, playing in 23 games.
