Pelicans starting point guard Jrue Holiday and his new bride, US National Soccer team member Lauren Cheney, spent their first Thanksgiving together feeding his teammates ahead of the Pelicans road trip up North.

After an early practice, the Pelicans team flocked to Holiday's home to join his family and his in-laws for a Thanksgiving feast.

"There was so much food," Holiday said. "My wife cooked non-stop."

Holiday says moments like that where this young team can bond off the court will help their performance on the court.

The first stop on the Pelicans road trip will be bittersweet for Holiday: New Orleans takes on the 76ers Friday in what will be Holiday's first trip back to the Wells Fargo Center after being traded to New Orleans. Holiday began his NBA career in Philadelphia, playing as a 76er from 2009-2013, including his All-Star season.
