Jordan Staal to make season debut for Hurricanes
Jordan Staal will make his season debut as the Hurricanes host the Canadiens on Monday at 6:30 p.m. on FOX Sports Carolinas.
Staal was activated from injured reserve earlier in the day, had been sidelined due to a fractured fright fibula he suffered during a Sep. 23 preseason game against the Sabres.
"I'm anxious to get back in," Staal told Chip Alexander of the Raleigh 'News & Observer. "It's been quite a journey."
Staal, 26, who is in his third season with Carolina, has scored 25 goals and added 46 assists in 130 games since being acquired via trade in June 2012.
In 561 career regular-season games with the Penguins and Hurricanes, Staal has 145 goals and 174 assists.
Carolina is currently eighth in the Metropolitan Division, seven points behind the seventh-place Devils.
