ARLINGTON – Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said both the NFL and the former players received a "great deal" Thursday when the league reached a $765 million deal in concussion lawsuits with 4,500 ex-players.
"The players that have been impacted and the players that could be potentially impacted, will get the money rather than the attorneys," Jones told 105.3 The Fan before Thursday's preseason finale at AT&T Stadium. "A long, drawn-out retracted, it wasn't a who's right or who is wrong here, it's just the money will go to the ones that need that. So it's a great deal for everybody. I'm excited that it's going to result in a really substantive benefit to the players that have helped make this game what it is today."
Jones also pointed out that the settlement benefits will "contribute dramatically" to studies that will help prevent future head injuries.
"It will be good for everyone," Jones said, "not just the players that have played, but certainly players that will be playing."
