Jimmy Connors defends Indian Wells CEO's sexist remarks: 'Let it go'
One of the greatest tennis players of all time stepped up in defense of former Indian Wells tournament director Raymond Moore.
Former World No. 1 Jimmy Connors defended Moore â his longtime friend â in a brief interview with TMZ. Moore stepped down from his post as the Indian Wells CEO last week after he claimed female tennis players should "go down every night on [their] knees and thank God that Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal were born" in a sexist rant ahead of the women's final at Indian Wells earlier this month. But Connors did not seem to think those comments merited the outcry Moore received.

"The guy makes a mistake. He says one loose thing ... but look at everything he's done on the positive side for tennis, women's tennis, men's tennis in general," Connors told TMZ. "Some guys make a loose statement. Let it go, look at the positive things he's done and move on."
Connors also defended suspended female player Maria Sharapova's use of a banned substance, as he told TMZ, "You gotta do what it takes to be good" during the brief interview. Connors served as Sharapova's coach for one match back in 2013.
