Jerry Jones: Bryant not done returning punts

Dwayne Harris turned in the Cowboys' best punt return of the season on Sunday in Philadelphia, so Dez Bryant's time as a returner is probably over, right?

Not exactly.

Harris' 78-yard touchdown return early in the fourth quarter helped the Cowboys pull ahead of the Eagles for good in a 38-23 victory. It was clearly the biggest play the Cowboys have had on special teams this year.

But Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Tuesday morning that there are still scenarios where Bryant could be back deep.

"Dez is such an exceptional threat, exceptional player that I wouldn't say anything is set in stone and done," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. "I know what he's capable of doing."

Jones then mentioned Bryant's ability to break a big play if the Cowboys are desperate for one late in a game.

"Dez, we know, can make plays when they're not supposed to be made probably as well as anybody we've got on the team," Jones said. "No, I don't think it's over for Dez."

Bryant is averaging 5.5 yards over 12 punt returns this season with his longest going for 44 yards. Harris has returned eight punts for an 18.9-yard average with the 78-yarder being his longest.
