YOKOHAMA, Japan (AP) Tomomi Tanaka of Japan won the last running of the Yokohama International Women's Marathon on Sunday.
Tanaka won in 2 hours, 26 minutes, 57 seconds, pulling ahead of Kenya's Philes Ongori with 50 yards left.
Ongori finished two seconds behind. Japan's Reia Iwade, appearing in her first marathon at age 19, was third in 2:27:21.
The race was first held in Tokyo in 1979 and moved to Yokohama in 2009 following the launch of the mass participation Tokyo Marathon. The Yokohama race is reportedly ending for financial reasons.
