Jaguars K Josh Scobee named AFC special teams player of week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Wednesday that kicker Josh Scobee was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week by the NFL.

Scobee connected on both of his field-goal attempts last Sunday against the New York Giants, including a 43-yarder with 28 seconds remaining which gave the Jaguars a 25-24 victory. It was the eighth game-winning field goal of his career, which dates back to 2004.

Scobee also hit from 28 yards in the second quarter, and five of his six kickoffs resulted in touchbacks in a game where the Jaguars trailed 21-0 in the second quarter.

Through 12 games, Scobee has connected on 13 of 17 field goals, including seven of his last eight.
