Jacksonville Jaguars middle linebacker Paul Posluszny has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the team’s first win of the 2013 season.

Posluszny forced and recovered a fumble on the first play from scrimmage Sunday at Tennessee. The Jaguars scored a touchdown three plays later and never relinquished the lead as they came away with a 29-27 victory over the Titans.

Posluszny made eight tackles in the game before sustaining a concussion with 2:11 remaining. Until the injury, he had played on every defensive down for the Jaguars this season. He leads the team in tackles with 88 and interceptions with two, including one which he returned for a touchdown against the Denver Broncos. He ranks third in the AFC and fifth in the NFL in tackles.

An update on Pozluszny's status for the Jaguars' game Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals is expected sometime Wednesday.
