Iowa State women rout Cal State Northridge 93-47
AMES, Iowa (AP) -- Kelsey Bolte scored 16 points and No. 21 Iowa State held winless Cal State Northridge to five field goals in the first half en route to a 93-47 victory Monday night.
Chelsea Poppens added a season-high 15 points, Hallie Christofferson scored 14 and Lauren Mansfield handed out 10 assists for the Cyclones (8-2), who overwhelmed the Matadors (0-12) with their size and shooting.
Iowa State shot 64 percent in racing to a 51-15 halftime lead, outscored Northridge 44-10 in the paint and finished with a 53-24 rebounding edge. The 93 points were a season high for the Cyclones, who won their 54th straight regular-season nonconference game at home.
Iowa State came in as one of the nation's top defensive teams, holding opponents to 49.3 points and 31 percent shooting, and the Matadors didn't do anything to hurt those numbers.
They missed 17 of their first 18 shots and shot 29 percent (17-for-58) for the game. Jasmine Erving led Northridge with 21 points, 17 in the second half.
