Instant Take: Pargo, Cavs surprise Sixers

CLEVELAND -- It was only a matter of time before Jeremy Pargo erupted for a 28-point night in a Cavaliers’ victory.

Or something.

OK, let’s be honest, no one expected Pargo’s 11-for-19 shooting, 28 points or three-pointers from way, way out. But Pargo filled in for the injured Kyrie Irving, and in his first night, looked pretty Irving-like – as the Cavs raced to a 92-83 win over visiting Philadelphia on Wednesday at The Q.

The victory ended a six-game losing streak for the Cavs (3-8), and snapped a three-game ride on the bright side for the Sixers (7-5).

Dion Waiters added 16 for the Cavs, Alonzo Gee scored 14, and Anderson Varejao (19) and Tristan Thompson (11) each had double figures in rebounds.

It was a game that few folks picked the Cavs to win, as the team was without Irving (finger) and Daniel Gibson (elbow). Irving leads the team in scoring (22.9 ppg) and Gibson (9.3) leads them in scoring off the bench.

On this night, however, it was C.J. Miles who paced the Cavs in reserve. Miles scored 13 points and basically just played his best game since coming to Cleveland in the off-season.

Jrue Holiday and Jason Richardson each scored 16 to lead the Sixers, who shot just 36 percent for the game.

Check back with FOX Sports Ohio later for my entire take on Wednesday’s game.
