Injured Marion to travel with Mavs on road trip
DALLAS - Shawn Marion traveled with his Dallas Mavericks this week as he plans to return from a four-game absence due to a right shoulder contusion and bruised ribs.
"I think it's something I can tolerate now, so I'm just going to give it a go,'' Marion said. "I was real close (to playing in Monday's win over Orlando), but I couldn't dunk where I could simply stretch my arm out without any pain. I did today, but I was able to fight through it a little bit easier, so we'll see.
I can't sit out any longer. It's tolerable, so I'm going to give it a go so I can help my team on this road trip."
The Mavs play at the Clippers on Wednesday and at the Suns on Friday. Carlisle isn't quite ready to pull the trigger on Marion's full participation just yet, however.
"He practiced and went through everything, and I think he's still sore,'' Carlisle said. "I think he wants to play, so I think it looks good for playing (Wednesday), but we'll see.''
