Inge had to go

If there’s one thing that we can all agree upon when it comes to former Tiger Brandon Inge, it's that he has a flair for the dramatic.

Inge, now a member of the Oakland Athletics, was at it again on Tuesday when he hit a walk-off grand slam, giving the A’s a 7-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Released by the Tigers on April 26, Inge signed with Oakland three days later and has appeared in seven games with the A's, hitting .179 with two home runs, nine RBIs and eight strikeouts in 28 at bats.

Over the next four days, prepare for Inge to again dominate the conversation. That’s because today the Tigers begin a four-game series against the A's in Oakland

With the Tigers struggling to consistently score runs this season, there seems to be a rumbling (thanks, Ryan Raburn) that perhaps the Tigers were a bit premature in cutting Inge loose -- and that’s just the starting point.

Depending on what transpires in Oakland, we could be on the verge of Inge Fever whipping the Detroit area into frenzy. Especially if Inge performs well and the Tigers offense continues its disappearing act.

Whatever happens this weekend in Oakland, it’s pivotal to remember that Inge, the Tigers and their fans needed to break up. His time in Detroit was over.

Inge could put together a solid season for the Athletics. Honestly, that’s fine with me.

Anything is possible for Inge -- as long as he’s not in Detroit.
