NEW DELHI (AP) Pace bowler Mohammed Shami has been named in India's squad for next month's World Twenty20 and the preceding Asia Cup tournament even though he is still recovering from a hamstring injury.

Chief selector Sandeep Patil said Friday that there were still ''30 days to go for the World T20'' and decided to pick Shami because he had been India's best bowler in the recent past.

The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led squad has three left-arm spin allrounders in Yuvraj Singh, Ravindra Jadeja and uncapped Pawan Negi, who is expected to make his debut in a three-game home T20 series against Sri Lanka starting Tuesday.

The Asia Cup will be played in Bangladesh from Feb. 24-Mar. 6 while the World T20 will be played in India from Mar. 8-Apr.3.
