Indians-Rangers: Tomlin's homecoming
Tomlin homecoming: Josh Tomlin (3-2, 3.06) grew up in Tyler, Texas, which is just over 100 miles from the Ballpark in Arlington. The right-hander has struck out 22 over his last 13 2/3 innings, having matched his career-high 8 strikeouts in the last start against Colorado. Tomlin's only start in Arlington was on Aug. 7, 2011, and he did not factor in the decision.
Road woes: The Tribe has dropped five straight and are an MLB-worse 9-20 away from home. Cleveland's 30-31 overall record is the same as it was last year.
Bullpen longball: Over the past seven games, the Indians bullpen has allowed four home runs. They have allowed 18 on the year which is ranked in the middle of the American League.
Day break: This is the Indians 25th day game, which is tied for third most in the Majors. They are 11-13 in those games but have won four of the past six and six of the last nine. The Rangers are 13-6 in day games and have won eight of their last nine.
Lonnie Baseball: Lonnie Chisenhall's .361 batting average leads the Majors among players with at least 150 plate appearances. He has 18 RBI over his last 16 games, which includes a seven-game stretch over the past week that has seen him drive in 12.
Rangers starter: Nick Tepesch (2-1, 4.43) has made only start against Cleveland and took the loss on June 12 last year as he gave up two home runs in a 5-2 loss. In his last seven day starts though, the right-hander is 3-1 with a 3.47 ERA.
Choice on a roll: Rangers outfielder Michael Choice, who hit the tie-breaking homer in the seventh inning Friday night and had 2 RBI in the game, has homered in two straight. On Texas' current homestand he is 4 for 11 with all of his hits going for extra bases.
