Indians rally for 12-6 victory over Royals
The Indians defeated the Kansas City Royals, 12-6, in Goodyear to improve to 12-2-1 on the spring.
The Indians scored a pair of runs in the first inning off Jeremy Guthrie, the first run coming on an RBI single from Jason Kipnis.
The Tribe erased a 5-3 KC lead with 4 runs in the 6th inning (Cooper 2-run double; Rohlinger RBI 1B; Carson RBI double) and exploded again in the 8th inning for 5 runs, including home runs from Elliot Johnson (2-2, 2RS, HR) and Carson (2-2, 2B, HR, 3RBI).
Zach McAllister (3.1IP, 4H, 2R/ER) started and Blake Wood fanned 2 in a perfect 7th inning to record his first win of the spring.
Tomorrow the Indians will travel to Glendale to play the Chicago White Sox in Camelback Ranch at 1:05 PM MDT/4:05 PM EDT. RHP Josh Tomlin (1-0, 2.00) will start against RHP Dylan Axelrod (0-0, 1.80) for the Sox.
