CINCINNATI (AP) -- The Cleveland Indians have placed closer Chris Perez on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder soreness, one day after he left their game at Boston in the ninth inning.
Cleveland recalled left-hander Nick Hagadone from Triple-A Columbus. He joined the Indians in Cincinnati, where they were scheduled to open a two-game series Monday.
Perez is 2-1 with a 4.32 ERA and six saves in 16 2-3 innings over 17 appearances. He was scheduled to be examined and have an MRI in Cleveland on Monday. This is his first trip to the DL in more than four seasons.
Hagadone has a 7.20 ERA in 10 innings over 13 combined appearances in his first two stints with the Indians this season.
