The Cleveland Indians announced a series of roster moves on Thursday, including placing first baseman Carlos Santana on the paternity list and reliever Scott Atchison on the 15-day disabled list.

Santana, who is hitting .221 (33-for-149) with six homers, 27 RBI and an AL-leading 37 walks, will miss 1-3 days. He posted a photo of the newborn "Baby Slamtana" on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.

Atchison heads to the DL with a right-ankle sprain after twisting his ankle during drills in the outfield several days ago, according to Cleveland.com.

Right-hander Austin Adams and first baseman/outfielder Jerry Sands have been promoted from Triple-A Columbus to replace Atchison and Santana.

Sands, who has split time between Cleveland and Columbus this season, is hitting .257 (19-74) with two doubles, one triple, four home runs and 14 RBI in 21 games with the Clippers (.385/.473/.858). During an April stint with the Indians, Sands hit .348 (8-23) with two doubles and four RBI in nine games.
