Indians 1B LaPorta undergoes surgery

Cleveland Indians first baseman Matt LaPorta had surgery on his left hip earlier this week, the Indians announced this morning. LaPorta, remembered mostly as the primary return on the C.C. Sabathia trade, has a lifetime average of .238 with 31 home runs. Here's the press release from the Tribe:
Please note INF MATT LaPORTA underwent a left hip arthroscopy Thursday
morning in Nashville, TN. The procedure was performed by Dr. Thomas
Byrd of the Nashville Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center. Byrd
performed a debridement of the left
hip joint.  Recovery and rehab is expected to take 3-to-4 months with
the expectation Matt will be unrestricted for the start of exhibition
play.
