India makes 295-6, batting 1st in 3rd ODI vs. Australia
MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) Virat Kohli made 117 to lift India to 265-6 batting first in Sunday's one-day match against Australia, thrilling a crowd at the Melbourne Cricket Ground which seemed to contain as many Indian fans as Australian.
Kohli posted his 24th one-day international century, his fourth against Australia and his first at the MCG to guide India to a competitive total. He shared partnerships of 119 for the second wicket with Shikhar Dhawan (68) and 109 with Ajinkya Rahane (50).
Kohli had to repair the innings after the uncharacteristic failure of Rohit Sharnma who was out for 9 after making 171 not out in the first game and 124 in the second. Kohli continued a brilliant run of form after making 91 in the first match and 59 in the second.
