March is for buzzer-beaters, but we might have already seen the best the month has to offer.
It comes via the Illinois Class 2A state basketball semifinals, where Friday night Rockridge High's Carson Frakes hit a shot that might as well have been taken outside of Peoria city limits.
The at-the-buzzer 50-footer beat Chicago outfit Hales Franciscan (enrollment 36) 45-43 and advanced the Rock Island County squad to the state finals.
