Idaho State cruises past NAU
POCATELLO, Idaho -- Chris Hansen finished with 24 points as Idaho State cruised to an 80-66 victory over Northern Arizona on Thursday night.
The game ended NAU's four-game winning streak.
Hansen shot 4 of 6 from 3-point range and led Idaho State with seven rebounds. The Bengals (6-18, 3-9 Big Sky) shot 7 of 10 from 3-point range and 53.8 percent overall. Nnamdi Ezenwa finished with 15 points, four assists and three steals. It was the Bengals' first win over the Lumberjacks since 2012.
"You have to give Idaho State credit," said head coach Jack Murphy. "They came out here and got the win over us. We had won five straight over them, but they were able to get the best of us tonight. It's time to turn our focus to Weber State, learn from our mistakes tonight and focus on our next game."
Hansen closed the first half with a layup and a 3-pointer, and the Bengals led 42-32 at intermission.
Idaho State led by as many as 15 points until the Lumberjacks (12-12, 7-4) went on a 10-2 run to close within seven with 6:40 remaining.
Treys from Quinton Upshur -- who led the Lumberjacks with 24 -- and Aaseem Dixon made it a five-point game with 4:19 left. Northern Arizona went cold for the next 2:59 and Idaho State led by double digits the rest of the way.
