The Miami Hurricanes have unexpectedly added an 18th recruit to their 2013 class, announcing that four-star running back Cornelius Elder (The Ensworth School, Nashville, Tenn.) has signed a letter of intent with the school.

Elder was ranked 33rd among all running backs in the 2013 class by Scout.com. He's a dual sport athlete with visions of playing basketball at Miami as well.

Elder, listed as 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, has led Ensworth to two straight Division II-AA basketball championships and was named the state tournament’s most valuable player.

On the football field, he rushed for 6,351 yards, 84 touchdowns and led his team to three consecutive state titles. As a senior, he rushed for 2,618 yards and 39 touchdowns.

Among the suitors for Elder were Auburn, Tennessee and Ohio State.

With the addition of Elder, Miami now has the 24th-ranked class for 2013, according to Scout.com.
