Hungary's swimming coach Laszlo Kiss withdraws resignation
BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) The head coach of Hungary's swimming teams says he has withdrawn his resignation, crediting shows of support from other coaches, current and former swimmers and even Prime Minister Viktor Orban for his change of mind.
Laszlo Kiss told state news agency MTI on Sunday that he wanted to stay in his job with the objective of more ''shared success.''
The 75-year-old Kiss is hugely respected in Hungary thanks to his work coaching Olympic champions Krisztina Egerszegi and Attila Czene, as well as five-time Olympic medalist Laszlo Cseh.
Kiss has led Hungary's female swimmers since 1993 and added the men's team to his duties in 1999. He resigned Thursday amid a disagreement between the national federation and top swimmer Katinka Hosszu.
