Hugh Freeze not at a loss for words

HOOVER, Ala. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson. Jim Morrison. Hugh Freeze?
Well, perhaps not, but the new Ole Miss coach is full of inspirational words and puts them together brilliantly.
His daily philosophy? "Every single day, every rep we get, compete like crazy.''
Which values does he hold close? "Core values of faith, attitude, mental toughness, integrity and love.''
His team's hashtag? #WinTheDay
And how does one win the day? "It starts with personal accountability, not only with players but with coaches, and we have a spoken goal and our daily actions should match that.'' Freeze said. "If your spoken goals and your daily actions don't match up you're going to have a hard time winning the day.''
How else do you use Twitter? "I tweet a positive message every day that I want our people thinking about.''
What about coaching? What do you tell your assistants? "Their challenge from me is to capture the hearts and minds of the players at their position.''
Impressive. Even his response to South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier's jab that Georgia has an advantage because they play Ole Miss and the Gamecocks play LSU was measured and on point.
"I don't like to get into talking about other schools or coaches in this league, but my response is that in 2013 we play them and I'll have that day circled to try to change his outlook and perspective on our team.''
It remains to be seen whether Ole Miss, 2-10 last year and 1-15 in the SEC the past two years, can turn its luck around under Freeze, who spent one season as Arkansas State's head coach before taking over at Ole Miss.
But maybe he can get the Head Ball Coach to eat his words.
