The ninth overall pick to the re-branded Charlotte club, Vonleh was slated to compete for an opening-night starting slot at the 4 spot. He still could return for the Hornets' home opener on Oct. 29 against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The 6-foot-10, 240-pound Vonleh, the Big Ten Freshman of the Year last season at Indiana, joins a vastly improved Hornets core that includes high-profile free agent acquisition Lance Stephenson.
