FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -- Rex Ryan thinks Santonio Holmes will return for the New York Jets this weekend after the wide receiver missed five games with a hamstring injury.
Holmes was limited in practice Wednesday, but appears on his way back to the playing field after being injured at Tennessee in Week 4. Ryan says Holmes suffered "a major hamstring injury," adding that it was the worst of any Jets player this season.
Holmes says he's "inching a lot closer" to coming back. His return would be a big boost to the Jets' receiving corps, which will be without Jeremy Kerley for at least a few weeks with a dislocated elbow.
Holmes, who missed most of last season with a foot injury, has 10 catches for 243 yards and a TD in four games.
