Solon will travel to Lyndhurst to take on unbeaten Brush High School Friday night.

The Arcs are coming off an 80-59 victory over Willoughby South, which gave them the 3rd Annual Brush Holiday Tournament championship trophy. Brush did so without one of its star players in Pharaoh Brown, who was playing in an all-star football game.

Solon, on the other hand, has struggled to a (1-6) start but the competition has been very good and the Comets are dealing with plenty of youth and inexperience.

Brush (7-0) has been led all season by 6-4 senior Curtis Oakley. The unsigned senior is averaging 18.4 points per game. 6-7 Brown makes up the second part of one of the better frontcourts in the Cleveland-area. The Oregon football commit is averaging 14.3 points and more than 10 boards a game.

At guard, the Arcs go with 6-3 junior Jameel Moore, 5-11 senior Eric Seaberry, and 6-4 junior Brandon Dawson. Moore is coming off a 23-point, nine-rebound, and four-assist effort in the win over Willoughby South. He is averaging 13.3 points per game on the year.

6-0 sophomore Sean Gooden leads the bench with just below nine points per contest.  6-0 freshman Chris Oakley, 5-6 senior Christian Groce, and 6-4 senior Brandon Hardy are also viable options off the pine.

Brush has quality wins over Cleveland Benedictine, Hudson, and Twinsburg to date and has a meeting with nemesis Mentor following the Solon contest.

The Comets will likely start three sophomores and two juniors if 6-2 senior Nate Brillhart isn't ready to go. Brillhart, who averages a smidge below seven points a game, has missed the last three games due to injury.

Sophomores Ny Redding (5'10), Darren Young (6'3), and Brandon Reynolds (6'4) will join juniors Hari Fair (6'3) and Josh Glass (6'2). Glass leads the team in scoring at 13.4 points a game.

Kareem Oldham (6'5/Sr.) and Denzell Davis (6'4/Sr.) are options off the bench. Davis is netting a little more than six points a night.

The Comets suffered defeats to Shaker Heights, Stow, Kenston, Twinsburg, and twice to Mayfield. Those teams have a combine five losses.
