Hermida activated from DL then optioned
SAN DIGEO (AP) -- Outfielder Jeremy Hermida was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list on Thursday by the San Diego Padres, who then optioned him to Triple-A Tucson.
General manager Josh Byrnes also announced that the club has designated right-handed pitcher Mark Hamburger for assignment.
The 28-year-old Hermida hit .250 with one double, one triple and two RBIs in 13 games for the Padres this season. He last played on April 26 against Washington, appearing as a pinch-hitter.
Hermida was placed on the disabled list on April 28 with a strained left adductor. He was transferred to the 60-day list on June 25. He has appeared in 14 games with Tucson as part of a rehab assignment, hitting .222 with one double and four RBIs.
Hamburger, 25, has made a combined 26 appearances between Triple-A Tucson and Triple-A Round Rock this year. He is 0-4 with a 6.75 ERA.
