MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- Members of the Miami Heat took the stage instead of the court Monday night for Battioke 2014.
The event, hosted by Shane Battier and his wife, Heidi, was the third annual fundraiser to benefit The Battier Take Charge Foundation. It was held at the at the Fillmore.
Battier, LeBron James, Greg Oden, James Jones, Norris Cole, newcomer Toney Douglas and comedian Ken Jeong were among those to performed during the event's first hour. Wade's fiancee Gabrielle Union and singer Jimmy Buffet also attended.
Miam's James Jones, Norris Cole, Chris Andersen, Michael Beasley and team president Pat Riley each walked the red carpet before tip-off.
"Ray Allen actually threw a karaoke event many years ago in Seattle, and I said, 'You know that's a fantastic idea. We're going to borrow that,' " Battier said.
"It evolves every year. It's a great event. Everyone who attends says it's one of the best fundraising charity galas they've been to."
Buffet bought a bottle of champagne for $25,000 in an auction between singing performances.
Founded by Shane and Heidi Battier, the event's proceeds will be directly donated to the foundation, which helps send South Florida students to college by awarding scholarships to deserving at-risk high school students.
